from play-Agricola.com

The 2017 Agricola edition (with decks a,b,c,d,p,q,r,s) will contain 804 of the current 1023 published cards. Of these 804 cards, 340 have been changed (43%).

AG3 = 1344 cards = ABCDPQRS = 804 BiCzEFGIKNOPiWaWmZ + 199 G4G5 + 201 T + 140 D
assuming S-Deck gets published.
S-Deck = 168 cards = 56 BiCzEFGIKNOPiWaWmZ + 33 G4G5 + 79 T

basically most of the decks from the Wm/G decks will be coming in the new line, plus a few hundred new ones (G1 is the old gamers deck, G2 is the Wm/Pi decks and G3 is the France deck, so G4 and G5 are entirely new "G" decks developed by those players at play Agricola).
Uwe has tweaked, rebalanced some cards, a work in progress, some of the online experts are not totally on board with the changes so far but Uwe seems very open to taking their advice so hopefully it will all work out (theres been some nerfing of combos by the look of it)

The new decks will be broken up as A B C D P Q R S, each deck will have I think 168 cards, and in each deck the same card number will do "similar stuff", ie card A11 will have a similar function to B11, C11, D11, P11, Q11, R11, S11 etc

Agricola has not ever been, nor will ever be a "collectable card game" in the sense that term is used normally, but certainly "catching them all" is always difficult with the various rare promos and odd decks, this was true of the old line and no doubt the new one, but usually those cards were more funky for fun cards, nothing you would miss in a proper game

Theres some concern about a Wizkids plan to release a 120 card deck split into 6 times 20 cards, with 5 pre painted mini figures to replace the meeples. Doesnt seem like it will be a wise decision in terms of making money for them, but this shouldnt be seen as a core part of the Agricola product line.

The expansion decks will be released as retail products starting with the Artifex (A) deck, 120 cards which will go with the 48 "A" cards in the revised base game (which comes with an expansion for 5+ players as well). The next (B) deck will add to the 48 B cards in the base line. I guess the C decks and beyond will come as complete 168 card boxes.

Theres no boosters, and these decks will be widely available via Mayfair who are a large gaming publisher.

Given the crazy prices the old decks are fetching, you'd probably be best just waiting for the new line to fill out.

Theres also supposed to be a mega complete super deluxe anniversary edition coming, next year, later, nobody knows, so therell be plenty of Agricola goodness for those who want in on it.

There's nothing remotely collectable about the cards either. It's more LCG if anything :P. Though I do wonder if any of the Wizkids mini set cards will appear in another set. Kinda want the Artifex deck that's coming out at Essen, though will have to rethink my storage then.

I agree with you lincudine. I have the minis and they work quite well with my existing pimped out set. I was using the revised edition meeples but switched them to the new minis when I got them.

Personally, if Mayfair is choosing this new business model, I have two choices: accept it or deny it. Complaining about it isn't going to change their mind.

I have bought everything Agricola and will still continue to upgrade as long as there are upgrades to get.

I am fortunate that I can support any trend Mayfair wants us to follow.

Cheers

Oh man, oh man, oh man we all know and love Agricola right? Of course you do even if you have never played it, you love it. And like most people you read a rule book neumerous times before playing correct? It's not that you are playing a game 20 odd times and not playing correctly, right? No, that would be stupid, of course I (we) would not do that.......

So what exactly did we get wrong? Well we never knew that when you take animals if you have no space for them you can just slaughter some or all of them for food (you also need a fireplace etc). No wonder all of our games we so hard and we never had enough food. We played last night ( a destroying win for Mrs W 49 - 25) and I had 4 workers and food for entire game was no problem. How stupid we were. And then this morning, I thought hmm is there a BGG thread for rule mistakes.....there is and what did I find....when animals bread you get 1 baby regardless of how many of each animal you have. We have always played that you get 1 baby per pair of animals, like in Fields of Arle.

I for one cannot wait to play the game with the correct rules.

Anything else we might have missed?

How rules stupid have you been?

Have a great week

My soon to be 5-year old loves playing Agricola and does it quite well after a few games.

We play with family rules, but expanded it with this rule to make the game a little bit more varied and less resource poor:
I create a small deck (about 10 cards) of simple occupations (take one more stone when you pickup stone and similar). He draws one randomly at the beginning of the game. For each added family member we both draw one additional occupation.

They didn't look bad at all, but I'm so busy at the show that I'm horrible at taking pictures. Just don't think about it until it's the Tuesday after and I kick myself because I should have taken a pic of this or that.

Thread: Agricola:: General:: Agricola + Farmers of the Moor + Gamers' Deck in one box!

Here's a simple storage "tutorial" for fitting the base game + two expansions into one box. This also makes the setup quick and relatively painless . This won't work if you sleeve your cards though.

- I keep the Minor Improvements from Farmers of the Moor and all Occupations for 3-5 players in separate bags, otherwise the decks would be too "tall".

- Rooms/fields/forests are also kept in separate bags in tidy stacks - you don't have to take them all out during the setup, just grab one when you need it.

- All resources and animals (apart from horses) are kept in a small plastic case. I can't recommend this storage tip enough, it cuts the setup and teardown time in half!

- Players' components and starting rooms are kept in separate bags - this also speeds up the setup.

Everything just fits perfectly in one box. I hope this will help you save some shelf space!

Our solution was to set the board up for one more player than we're actually using.

Thread: Agricola:: Rules:: scholar and plow driver

Hi,
Yesterday I played the scholar -'...at the start of a round you can always either pay 1 food to play an occupation card...'
and used it to play the plow driver- '...you can pay 1 food at the start of each round to plow 1 field'
my question is, since when I played the plow driver it is still start of a round, can I plow a field immediately?
I think the answer is yes, but just want to verify.

Thanks
