How long did it take to get the dream team? It feels like a lot of play throughs with resets to just see these 7 in your games. When you don't have any of these do you need to play through with no occupations in order to get another shot at a better occupation? It seems like the 7th occupation must take forever! Anyhow, I'm hoping that I'm missing something and it's not just that you all have iron wills.

Games for Friends and Lovers -- Castles of Burgundy Co-operative game adaptation

Hello fellow gamers! Harvey Cornell here from Dragon Phoenix Games. In my last post I promised to get the Castles of Burgundy Co-op released in a few days. It has been delayed a bit because we were trying to get the advanced prototype for one of our own game designs out for printing. It is called Blackstone Castle and we will give you some photos of this exciting new game in an upcoming blog after we get the prototype back from the printer.

Our Castles of Burgundy Co-op is a two-three player game. When played with two players, the third player is played as a dummy under control of the two players. This is actually the funnest way to play it in my opinion. The objective of the game is for all three players to completely fill their city grid with hex tiles. In order to make this possible, the game will be played over six rounds instead of five, and the board will be filled with hex tiles as if four players were playing. The victory points are still important as they allow players to get extra help such as rerolling a die or getting extra dice. Thus it plays very similar to the base game with the point salad aspect still being important.

Well, without further ado, here is the Castles of Burgundy Co-op adaptation!

Just to double check. These 120 cards are not part of the official ABCD PQRS (T) denomination of decks for the new Agricola line? (I ask because the official decks will have 168 cards, and as in the Artifex A deck, 120 cards in a boxed product will "add onto" the 48 A cards in the base product to make the 168.

Hanno said somewhere that the cards for these figurines are part of the C or D decks I think. Though, if there's blowback on that then presumably it's a pretty simple thing to change and just say they're not part of any of those decks and find new cards to slip into those spots.

No, I don't think these cards are part of any other deck. Hanno has said before that the right to sell these specific cards is exclusive to Whiz Kids, and they are not involved in the other decks.

EDIT: It was Alex Yeager who said this, in this very thread. Although Hanno may also have said it at some point.

Wizkids owning the cards doesn't stop those cards from being ones that were assigned to decks C and D though.

Semi-correct.
To help to get things clear:

(1) Lookout is going to release deck expansions containing 120 cards each, adding to the 48 from the base game and the 12 from the 5/6 player expansion for a total of 180 per deck. The first one is scheduled for this fall, codename "Artifex".

(2) Wizkids are publishing booster packs containing cards and minis. Those cards are taken from the C and D decks - some are popular evergreens currently out-of-print, others were picked to fit the booster packs' balance. As with all cards, Uwe and Grzegorz had the final say. The cards will be tournament legal, btw. They can be mixed and matched with all other cards.

gosh I just posted about some deck composition thoughts and have always seen 168 card decks quoted 21 occs for 1,3,4,5+ players and 84 minors. So this 180 is new to me.

There are 60 A cards in the base plus expansion though, so 180 would make sense, but as I posted in my other thread, I assumed 12 "extra" slots would be part of other decks as they slowly fill in the line.

Hmm. 8 x 168 was 1344 cards, but if it is 180 per thats up to 1440

I find it hard to believe Mayfair/Lookout would greenlight official C/D decks being exclusive to the mini expansions, that would make no sense.

It's unclear to me, I think he's saying those cards were selected from the original game's C and D decks, not that they're part of the Revised Edition C and D decks. But who knows, this whole arrangement is very convoluted.

There was no C and D deck in the original game though, or do they translate back to one of the EIKGWmGxWaNLG6(Fr)BiXZL you mean :)

You will find a mix of C and D cards making up the Upgrade Set cards.

When I said "new cards," this is quite literally the case for the new edition (which is the only edition we have control and quite frankly, plans for). The plan was always two deck releases a year, and Wizkids made an interesting offer that everyone at Lookout was eager to make happen. So, release one became this set, and Artifex will be set two.

I'm skeptical that the Deluxe Edition will occur in 2018, or honestly ever. It sounds like Mayfair plans on releasing a couple sets of cards per year for the foreseeable future and I think that planning a complete deluxe edition would run counter to this. In fact, I wonder if they regret even mentioning a deluxe edition, because I'll bet a bunch of people are holding off on the revised edition for something that seems to be indefinitely on hold and barely developed at all outside of the card balancing from Playagricola.com.

Combined with the fact that the cards from the Upgrade Kits belong to Wizkids for the forseeable future, it is reasonable to assume that they wouldn't be included in any other Mayfair product unless they are no longer selling and Wizkids stops printing them. Wouldn't be much of a "deluxe" edition if the cards from these Upgrade Kits are missing.

I hope that's not true, but I certainly acknowledge it is a possibility. For what it's worth, the only Agricola products I am interested in buying are the deluxe edition as described by Uwe and expansion decks developed along the lines of G, G2, WM, FR. If they want my money, those are the products they will need to make. I guess one question remains: am I in the minority, or the majority?

I will also only upgrade to a deluxe edition (provided there is also a Farmers of the Moor version that works with it).

Thanks Alex,
to clarify further (if you can), when you get round to releasing whatever the C and D decks are called, will these be "complete" (in addition to the 12 C and 12 D cards available in your new base and expansion available currently), or will the upgrade kits be the only way to get the full decks?
(side question: do you know if any deluxe/complete edition would be a complete card set, or again, missing any of the wizkids cards).

For the record, I'm buying the revised line and will buy the deluxe set on top. I'm conflicted about the upgrade kits because I would feel disappointed not to have a complete set of the "new" card decks, but its a lot of money to pay for minis I dont really want. (at least not all 6 colours).

thanks for your time!

At the moment, it seems that the Wizkids decks and minis might be included in the "deluxe" edition. As it has been written in different threads, there's no final specification on the BigBox. Yet.

but nothing confirmed about C and D decks that you guys will release (like Artifex deck) or you're saying those decks will not include the Wizkids cards?

(sorry to hassle, I appreciate you taking the time to clarify!)
